Swabbies Offers Great Environment for Food and Drinks on the River

It may be called the River City, but truth be told Sacramento isn’t exactly flush with entertainment activities along either of its two main waterways, the Sacramento or American rivers. And that’s precisely what makes Swabbies on the River so unique. Famous for their tacos and beer selection, Swabbies’ marina atmosphere features a menu full of delicious fare and 19 beers on tap, not to mention a setting unmatched in the Sacramento area. Literally on the Sacramento River waterfront and just a stone’s throw from Sacramento International Airport, Swabbies takes advantage of its locale by staging most of its seating for food and beverages, as well as entertainment, in an outdoor setting that’s shaded by 60 foot trees. Because it is outdoor oriented, Swabbies terms itself as open year around, but seasonal in nature, serving lunch and dinner seven days a week and a weekend brunch from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday and Sunday. When the weather cooperates, as it does most of the year, there’s no better place for food and drinks on the river.

From a food standpoint, it all starts with Swabbies top shelf famous tacos.  Made with seven inch “hand crafted” shells and 100 percent fresh local Parmesan cheese and 100 percent grated Jack cheese with no fillers, there are several eight varieties to choose from, including Corona Beer Battered Cod and shrimp, prawns, grilled Opah, pulled pork, chicken, shredded or ground beef. Not in the mood for tacos? Swabbies has a full array of mouthwatering options, including the Original Cheese Burger in Paradise, or Garlic Turkey Burger, salads and appetizers, including Sriracha Cod bites and oysters served in Citron Vodka Sauce. There’s also a “Little Matey’s” menu for kids. And on the weekends Swabbies features a brunch menu punctuated by breakfast tacos, a colossal breakfast burrito as well as biscuits and gravy, and to set the tone, a complimentary Mimosa.

Of course, it’s the setting itself that puts Swabbies over the top. There’s nothing quite like taking in live music on the river, and Swabbies has a full calendar of talented bands to put you in party mode.  You can also make the setting your own by planning a party for a birthday, graduation, retirement, or even a wedding reception.
